The best kept secret is an Asymmetric chamber design, in combination with thinner doctor blades!
About 10 years ago the first truly asymmetric chamber NOVA XLS was introduced by AkeBoose Graphic Products. The Swedish engineer Åke Bööse had found out that different blade angels are the key to eliminate problems with back doctoring. The results also proved to be even better when using thinner doctor blades. By using a high quality sealing/retaining blade of 0,15 mm thickness, at a flatter angle, the thin and flexible sealing blade allows superficial ink droplets on the screen roller, to re-enter the chamber, instead of dripping down or spreading side-ways to the roller ends.
NOVA XLS Corrosion free chamber is the printers best friend when the printing conditions are harsh and challenging. All wet part of the NOVA XLS corrosion free chamber is made from stainless steel, including the blade clamping system which makes the chamber ideal to use with waterborne ink and alkaline detergents.
Depending on the application the NOVA XLS Corrosion free chamber can be supplied as Closed or Robust design.
AkeBoose chamber systems never use doctor blades and end-seals as bearings, mainly because the doctor blades bends easily, resulting in poor doctoring (High pressure doctoring). Blades and seals also wear down much quicker, increasing operating costs.
AkeBoose always recommend the "Low pressure doctoring principle" instead where chambers are mechanically looked in operation. Minor adjustments for blade wear must be made, manually or automatically, 1 - 2 times per day.
In combination with a NOVA XLS chamber, designed with Optimal blade angles agains the screen roller, running expenses are reduced significantly.
